We published the Networking Studies 2009 proceedings. It contains 11 selected and revised technical reports organised in three thematic sections: CESNET2 Network, Network Monitoring and Security, ans Middleware and Applications. 185-page publication is free to download in the PDF format.

Network security seminars

We organized two professional seminarsi (in Czech) focused on network security issues: Secure Operation of Networks and Services (May 20) and Facilities for CERT/CSIRT-type Teams (May 21). Both seminars helped the administrators of local computer networs and network services to improve the security an to deal with security incidents. Read more in the press release.

Reccommendations of 5th CEF Networks Workshop

Successful tests of 40 Gbps

The CESNET association has successfully tested the 40 Gbps technology between Prague and Brno during April. We expect to deploy this technology in real operation in the CESNET2 network in 2010. Additional details are provided by our press release.

e-IRG workshop

May 20., 2009

We organised E-Infrastructure Reflection Group (e-IRG) Workshop in Prague on 14 and 15 May. e-IRG is a working group created to specify and recommend optimal utilisation of the pan-European electronic infrastructure. The Prague meeting dealt for example with issues of the data management, e-infrastructure federalisation or e-infrastructure legal aspects. Read further information in the press release.

Jan Gruntorad and Mario Campolargo in Czech TV

At May 13, the Czech television broadcasted on its news channel CT24 the Milenium programme focused on the future and visions of Internet. This topic was related to the Future of the Internet conference which took place in Prague. Guests of the programme were Jan Gruntorad, the director of CESNET, and Mario Campolargo, the principal scientific officer with the European Commission DG INFSO (Information Society). The Future of the Internet Conference co-organised by CESNET starts in Prague today. This conference comes under the Czech presidency of the European Union. It focuses on the strategic orientations and trends governing the future societal and economic developments of the Internet and mobile societies. If concerned you may participate on-line.
