IPv6 in CESNET2
IP version 6 (IPv6) is the proposed new version of the core Internet Protocol (IP). Although the first RFC specifications were published in 1995, today's implementations still lack many features and the whole IPv6 field is starting its production deployment.
In CESNET2 we established an IPv6 core testbed in 1999. The network is slowly but steadily growing. Our current IPv6 implementation is based on the 6PE technology (which uses MPLS tagging to transport IPv6 packes over the backbone).

Current IPv6 topology
Since 2004 IPv6 is no more a separate project. It has been included into the network operations and IPv6 is offered to sites connected to CESNET2 on a regular basis.
