IPv6 in CESNET2
IP version 6 (IPv6) is the proposed new version of the core Internet Protocol (IP). Although the first RFC specifications were published in 1995 and the protocol is implemented in all major operating systems and hardware routers, its deployment in production Internet is quite rare yet.
In CESNET2 we established an IPv6 core testbed in 1999. The network is slowly but steadily growing. Our current IPv6 implementation is based on the 6PE technology (which uses MPLS tagging to transport IPv6 packes over the backbone).

Current IPv6 topology
Since 2004 IPv6 has been included into the network operations and IPv6 is offered to sites connected to CESNET2 on a regular basis.
IPv6 working group
CESNET established an IPv6 working group to support the deployment of the new protocol in networks connected to CESNET2, exchange the experience, publish best practices and propagate IPv6 in general.
