IPTA - IP Telephony Accounting
As a part of our project we have developed an extensive IP telephony accounting application providing the following features:
- Flexible call listings from high-level summaries of aggregated VoIP traffic between connected institutions or any prefixes to detailed listings of individual calls
- Simultaneous accounting using several different accounting plans in paralel allowing evaluation of alternative accounting plans and different locations of PSTN gateways
- Flexible rewriting and identification of callers and callees to support administrative requirements of different PBXs
- Open software - based on Linux, MySQL, PHP4
- Resilliency against changes in configuration of voice gateways
All accounting information is requested using a simple web form shown in Fig. 1. Links at the top of the form lead to a set of forms for administrative tasks (modification of accounting plans, prefix rewriting, etc.). An example listing produced by the application is shown in Fig. 2.

The architecture of the first release of the application has been presented on the IPTEL 2001 workshop. The implementation details of the current release will be described in a technical report, which is in preparation.
We plan to include new features to the application in the near future including:
- Gathering information about calls from a SIP server (in addition to current gathering from voice gateways)
- Producing statistical outputs including the load of lines connecting individual PBXs
- Increasing the speed of listing generation
If you are interesting in using our application in your location or if you have any questions about the current state of development please contact Sven Ubik.
