CEF Networks Workshop 2012
The 7th Customer Empowered Fibre (CEF) Networks workshop took place in Prague from September 12th to 14th. The programme was oriented on advanced deployment of research results and technology transfer in the area of optical networking. Venue was near CESNET premises, with good availability for presentations by videoconferencing.

Venue and logistics
The conference venue was
lecture room No. 111 (named Krejcar)
Faculty of Architecture
Czech Technical University of Prague
Thákurova 9
Prague
Czech Republic
It is located in the campus of the Czech Technical University in Dejvice district, very close to Metro and other public transportation means. All the necessary infrastructure is available including conference and terminal rooms with Wi-Fi connectivity (including eduroam), demonstration area, and catering.
How to get there
The campus location is really suitable. There is a direct bus connection which brings you from/to the airport in less than 30 minutes. See the map and instructions on Google Maps.
- From the airport:
Bus no. 119 (stop is in the middle of the car park outside the arrival hall, just walk straight and look for the signs) will take you to the Metro station "Dejvická" (30 minutes). Bus 119 ends here, so don't worry. Then follow the instructions provided on the map above. The bus comes quite frequently—see departures from the airport and departures from Dejvická. You have to buy a general public transport ticket and stamp it inside the bus. The tickets are sold at newspaper kiosks for 32 CZK (about 1.3 Euro).
Another option is the AE bus (Airport Express) which goes non-stop to the Dejvicka station (and then continues to the Hlavni nadrazi railway station). It is a bit faster but the frequency is lower—see the time table. Fare is similar (40 CZK, about 1.6 Euro), you have to pay in cache by the driver.
- From anywhere else:
Use subway (Metro). Go to the line A and then to the Dejvicka station (which is end-station of this line). Plans of Metro lines are available on stations and inside trains (above every door). Then follow the instructions provided on the map above.
Accommodation
We offer some accommodation tips on a separate page. These hotels are close to the workshop venue (see the map of hotels) and provided fair services during our former events.
Dinner
Dinner venue is the U zlatého lva restaurant, Ovocný trh 17, Prague 1. It is located in the centre of Prague Old Town, some 5 minutes walk from the Old Town Hall with the famous horologe. To get there use the Metro line A to the Můstek station, then go downhill through the Na můstku street, turn rigth on the first corner and continue straight through the Rytířská street and Ovocný trh square to the restaurant. The path to restaurant is depicted on our map of hotels. The dinner starts on Wednesday September 12th at 19:00 (7 pm).
