Connectivity
Wireless network connectivity (IEEE 802.11a/b/g) is available during the conference. The access to the Wi-Fi network is based on the eduroam authentication (see more on www.eduroam.org).
eduroam
We believe that majority of you have (or can get) an eduroam account from your 'home' institution (or your domestic NREN). List of countries connected to the eduroam system and links to national information pages are presented on the www.eduroam.org as well.
These users can simply connect to the eduroam network (SSID in fact), which is preferred and the most secure one. It requires authentication via 802.1X protocol, so you have to run supplicant (it is built-in part of Windows XP) which will authenticate you to the network. All the data communication is encrypted when using eduroam network.
Non-eduroam users
We provide temporary accounts for the rest of you who doesn't have the possibility of getting the regular account from your home organisation. These accounts are valid only during the CESNET 2008 conference. The user names, passwords and instructions are available at the registration desk.
Sending mail
We recommend you to use secured SMTP (port 465) to connect to your domestic SMTP server to send your mails. Plain SMTP connectivity from the conference networks is blocked. If you cannot use the secured SMTP, please modify the configuration of your mail program to use the local SMTP server smtp.eduroam.cesnet.cz. This is the only plain SMTP server reachable from the conference networks.
Assistance
We are ready to assist you if some problems arise – write mail to eduroam-support@cesnet.cz or ask by the registration desk.
