Our second bi-annual conference on advances in high-speed communication technologies, grids, middleware and their sophisticated applicationsi is over. Main focus has been given on areas that stay behind the network, but are the basic building blocks of general e-infrastructures:

The major conference topics were:

• Middleware – software components binding the large and complex distributed systems
• Virtualization – virtual networks, computational platforms and data storage infrastructures
