The Third Science and Technology Week in the CESNET2 Network
CESNET, an association of universities and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic became one of the partners of the Science and Technology Week for the third time in a row. The ninth year of the event with the motto "What is our world like?" will take place in the largest Bohemian and Moravian cities from 2nd to 8th November this year. Selected lectures will be streamed online by CESNET over the Internet using the CESNET2 national science and research network, which CESNET has been developing and enhancing for a long time. On-line streamed video from three locations in Prague – the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the Municipal Library in Prague, and the Museum of the Police of the Czech Republic – will be available for viewing at: prenosy.cesnet.cz. A video archive of lectures from the Science and Technology Week will be located at: http://videoserver.cesnet.cz/videoarchiv.php.
Lectures for the general public represent one of the key components of the Science and Technology Week program. Leading scientists from the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic as well as other research institutions will inform about results of their scientific projects and latest research trends and discoveries. The Science and Technology Week includes numerous exhibitions, presentations, seminars, etc.
In addition, researchers from Brno, České Budějovice, Olomouc, Ostrava and Prague prepared a rich offering of excursions to introduce their research projects and present state-of-the-art scientific devices and experiments. For a detailed program please visit: www.tydenvedy.cz.
The CESNET association was founded by universities and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The association is currently financed mainly from the resources of the governmental Research and Development Board and funds of the association members. The association performs the research and development of information and communication technologies, building and developing the national gigabit optical network, CESNET2, designed for research and educational purposes. With its research activities and accomplishments, the CESNET association can represent the Czech Republic in the pan-European GÉANT network construction project, actively participating in the project implementation.
