CESNET will ensure the connectivity of the 68th IETF meeting in Prague
On 18th to 23rd March this year the 68th meeting of the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) will take place in the Hilton Hotel in Prague. IETF is an open Internet association, which associates representatives of the Internet service providers, network engineers and Internet researchers from all over the world. The IETF has gradually built up a crucial position in the development of Internet technologies and preparation of the RFC specifications (Requests for Comments) defining all Internet protocols. Within the framework of the IETF there are dozens of working groups focussed on individual networking topics.
IETF owes its efficiency and quality results first and foremost to the openness and certain informality by which it differs from international standard-setting bodies. One of the partners at the Prague meeting, at which the expected participation is almost 1200 "Internet" personalities from all over the world, is CESNET, the association of universities and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, which will ensure the requisite connectivity for the needs of the event.
Details of the meeting are available at the address http://www3.ietf.org/meetings/68-IETF.html
The CESNET Association was established by the universities and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. At present it is financed first and foremost from the means of the government Council for Research and Development and from the means of its members. The Association deals with the research and development of information and communication technologies and builds and develops the national gigabit optical network CESNET2, intended for research and education. Thanks to the research activities and achieved results the CESNET Association represents the Czech Republic in the project of the construction of the Pan-European network GÉANT2 and in other international projects.
