CESNET wins best RCNA award for 2004/2005 in the Czech Republic

In the course of the annual Cisco Networking Academy Program conference for the Czech and Slovak Republics for 2005, which was held from 7 to 9 April 2005 in Brno, CESNET, a. l. e., won the award for "Best RCNA 2004/2005". In the CESNET association, the RCNA (Regional Cisco Networking Academy) has been operating in collaboration with the telecommunications department of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Czech Technical University since 2000. Its aim, together with its local academies (there are currently ten of these), is the same as that of the Cisco Networking Academy Faculty as a whole, which is to offer training to experts in the design, building and administration of computer networks. Besides basic CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) courses and more advanced CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) courses, it also offers an FNS (Fundamentals of Network Security) course to those who are interested.

The CESNET association was founded by universities and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It is currently financed primarily by its members and the Research and Development Council. The association operates and develops CESNET2, the national gigabit optical network intended for research and education, and participates in the research and development of information and communication technologies. Thanks to its research activities and achieved results, the CESNET association represents the Czech Republic in the European GN2 project, as well as in other international projects. Among other countries, the association currently cooperates with Canada, the Netherlands, and the USA on the construction of GLIF (Global Lambda Integrated Facility), a global lambda network whose Czech section is called CzechLight.
