ResearchChannel experiments with new methods of media delivery. We are both a traditional television operation, and a developer of new media delivery methods using internet protocol.

The presentation will include information about recent projects and events such as the VISIONS '05 Project where high definition was multicast from the ocean floor in real time and the Global n-way HD Video Conference. The talk will include brief descriptions of the systems used and preparations at the remote sites.

ResearchChannel is also developing an open scalable digital asset management infrastructure called DigitalWell. The project includes exploration of data grid and storage abstraction technologies to facilitate high bit rate data movement, extensible metadata and interoperation with other digital libraries. The presentation will include a brief description of the collaborative uncompressed high definition edition demonstration recently presented at Supercomputing'05.
